It’s not often that you meet a born and bred New Yorker. Sutton’s family has called New York City home since the time before WWI. So when Sutton received a request to create work based on such an iconic New York City image as the Wall Street Bull, she felt as though her native New York roots made it a perfect artistic match. This work, based on an image captured for Sutton’s first piece of public art on behalf of a luxury kosher steakhouse, Wall Street Grill, is easily recognized although the image wasn’t easily captured. It required a 4 am trek down to Wall Street for a private viewing of the icon. The recolouration of the initial photograph, as well as the element of depth and perspective, are strengths and themes within Sutton’s works.
