ELIZABETH SUTTON ORIGINAL PAINTING
Into the Blue
Mixed Media, 2025

ELIZABETH'S INSPIRATION
Created in 2025, 'Into the Blue' brings Elizabeth Sutton's signature three-dimensional butterflies into a loose, fluid field of blue brushstrokes. Each butterfly is detailed by hand with an X-Acto knife and hand-glittered, creating unique patterns that catch the light across its wings. The butterflies rise from the more scattered arrangement at the bottom and disperse toward the top, giving the composition its upward flow. This was Sutton's first butterfly artwork with a more fluid, less geometric background, a freeing change that lets the butterflies feel looser in their movement. Their dimensional wings stand apart from the painted background, bringing depth and movement to a symbol of transformation. Framed in a clear plexi box, the original gains a sense of depth while protecting the fragility of its delicate butterflies. Original sold.
